For over a decade, Kédu Carlö has been crafting a sonic world that is equal parts electrifying and meticulously detailed. The alt-electronic duo—Jess and Carly—began writing songs together as teenagers in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (Auckland, New Zealand). What started as a deep friendship bound by musical connection has evolved into an enduring and dynamic creative partnership.
They create genre-bending electronica, blending decades of influence from pioneering electronic scenes with a unique process refined through years of symbiotic evolution. The sounds of underground dance and alternative house have impressed upon Kédu Carlö time and again, refreshing their drive to experiment with uncharted sonic combinations. Through their explorations, a signature sound remains—instantly recognizable yet somehow elusive to define.
Their early EPs Let’s Get To It (2021) and Alien Fempire (2022) showcased their sharp production instincts and expansive influences. Followed by their debut album Space Girl Finds Cash (2023), which saw standout singles Endless, U Need Me, and Shotgun Baby gain traction across Europe and Australasia. With their third EP set for release in March 2025, Kédu Carlö continues to defy predictability, crafting compositions that reflect their experiences and multi-faceted emotions.
As DJs, Kédu Carlö embodies a rebellious spirit—blending deep cuts from the early days of house music with the sounds of now that speak to their passion for genre-fluid innovation. In their live shows, KC (as they call themselves) wields an evolving arsenal of synths, drum machines, and live percussion, channelling unfiltered energy on stage. Their raw chemistry and musicianship make for magnetic performances.
With roots in New Zealand’s underground scene and a growing international presence, Kédu Carlö continues to evolve—always refining, pushing forward, and proving that their most exciting work is yet to come.
Techno duet Kédu Carlö (AKA Jess Penson and Carly Gill) from Tāmaki Makaurau have unveiled their kaleidoscopic new album Space Girl Finds Cash. These are two of the most talented producers in the country, and this album only continues prove that point. Tapping into a multi-verse of genres, these two are making music with an inclusive dance floor in mind, and their metamorphosis of sound is a gift of their generous bank of musical knowledge and influences.
